Do you find you spend way too long in the shower? I know I do! I loose track of time and can easily spend 30 minutes in there. Did you know though that each 30 minute shower is costing you about £1.50 in electricity? You can check how much each shower is costing you with the ShowerBoB Calculator.
I have been trying to half the time I spend in the shower to about 15 minutes which is not only saving me 75p per time it is helping the environment at the same time.
I personally don’t find a timer to be very effective for me, I do not have an egg timer so I can not keep an eye on how long I have spent already and if I use the timer on my phone I find I don’t actually get out when it buzzes as I might not be finished yet.
So how do I save money in the shower?
I use Spotify! I have a playlist of upbeat songs I can sing along to and I know that the average length of pop songs is about 3 minutes so I am allowed to shower for the length of 4 to 5 songs. I know all these cheesy songs so well I can tell exactly how long I have left and I find upbeat happy music actually helps you speed up the whole process of getting clean! (It helps when doing the housework too)
Bonus is you get out of the shower in a good mood ready to tackle the day ahead.
