How to save money at Amazon
OK so I was helping my dad do some online shopping earlier today, he is a keen cyclist and is currently upgrading his bike and accessories. He needed a new visor for his cycle helmet so I did some searching and found that Amazon was the only place that actually had any stock.
Product on mum’s Amazon account
It was priced at £6.99 and as I went to purchase the item I realised I was signed in on my mums account, I was on her computer, so I logged out and into my account, I found the item again and noticed the price had gone up and was now £7.69 I was a little confused so logged out and rechecked my mum’s account which was still showing it at £6.99.
Product on my Amazon account
As you can see it is exactly the same item, by the same seller! The only difference is the account logged in and the price. If I wanted to purchase the item I would have to pay an extra 70p which is 10% more than what my mum would have to pay.
I have heard rumour before that Amazon will drop their prices on certain items that you view and then do not purchase; though I had never noticed it happen before. I decided to test this theory and logged out of my account, I had a nice cup of tea and chilled out with my dad for a while watching some TV. There was plenty of stock, I didn’t foresee a huge rush on sales of cycle helmet visors which would mean we lost out so there was no need to panic buy, I could afford to sit on it and test the theory after all if it did not work I would have given mum the cash and had her buy it.
After 45 minutes or so I logged back into my account and lo and behold the price had gone down to £6.99! So the theory is now a fact, Amazon do drop their prices on some items you view and then do not immediately purchase. I can not guarantee this will happen for you and your specific purchase but it really must be worth a try! I saved 10% for the sake of 45 minutes and a cup of tea.
So how do I save money at Amazon?
- View item on Amazon
- Log out of your account
- Make a nice cup of tea (or coffee if you are so inclined)
- Wait at least 45 minutes
- Log back into Amazon and check if the price has changed
It really is as simple as that! Has this trick worked for you in the past? Will you now try and see if it works for you? Good luck, I hope it helps you save money! Oh and if you wish to buy yourself a nice new visor for your cycle helmet (safety first!) then you can find it here
Much love as always…
